JLL and EY are the latest to commit to the final stage of the award-winning Constitution Place precinct. Construction is taking shape, with Vernon set to deliver a new benchmark for sustainable, next-generation workplaces in the Canberra CBD.

The seven-level building, still under construction, will span 15,000 sqm and be finished by late 2026. Located at Vernon Circle and Constitution Avenue, it will offer wide views of Lake Burley Griffin and Parliament House.

Vernon continues the evolution of Constitution Place; a vibrant, mixed-use precinct by Capital Property Group already home to leading corporate and government tenants including King & Wood Mallesons, MinterEllison, NAB and the ACT Government.

“Vernon represents the next chapter in the Constitution Place story,” said Richard Snow, Group Head of Property at Capital Property Group. “We’re creating a world-class, sustainable workplace that supports collaboration, flexibility, and wellbeing - a building designed for the future of work. We only have 1,000 sqm left and hope to have that locked away by the end of the year. This has been a very successful leasing campaign, and we are thrilled by the calibre of tenants that have committed.”

A hallmark of the project is its strong commitment to sustainability. Vernon will be fully electric and carbon-neutral in operation, targeting a 5.5-star NABERS Energy Rating and a 5-Star Green Star rating. The hybrid timber and concrete structure will feature 15% sustainable timber, complemented by a 150kW roof-mounted solar array to further reduce its environmental footprint.

The building’s design prioritises natural light, connectivity, and flexibility; attributes that have already attracted high-calibre tenants. Professional services firm EY has committed to lease two floors (4,600 sqm), while global property firm JLL will relocate its Canberra office to Vernon, leasing 900 sqm on Level 6 for a 10-year term from early 2027.

JLL, which also serves as Vernon’s exclusive leasing agent, cited the building’s environmental performance and location as key factors in its decision to move from its current office on Marcus Clarke Street.

Tim Mutton, Managing Director, JLL ACT, said: "Vernon sets a new benchmark for premium, sustainable office space in Canberra. As both leasing agents and future occupants, we’ve seen firsthand the strength of tenant demand for workplaces that combine ESG performance, amenity and connectivity. JLL research shows that enquiry in Canberra continues to concentrate around high-performing, energy-efficient buildings, with organisations prioritising environments that support productivity and talent attraction.

The strength of pre-commitment at Vernon reflects the broader confidence we’re seeing in high-quality, future-ready assets, particularly those in established precincts that offer long-term value and resilience. Vernon’s all-electric design, market-leading sustainability credentials and position within Constitution Place make it one of the most compelling offerings in the market today."

With construction well underway and strong pre-commitment from major tenants, Vernon and the Constitution Place precinct more broadly is being reinforced as Canberra’s most desirable business addresses.
