Vernon at Constitution Place tops out
Vernon at Constitution Place has reached a major milestone, with structural concrete works complete, the final slab at Level 8 poured and the building officially topping out.
Vernon is the final stage of the Constitution Place precinct, developed by Capital Property Group at the corner of Vernon Circle and Constitution Avenue.
Reaching the top
Concrete slab pours progressed to Level 8 during February, with the first half of the top level completed by the end of the month. The final slab was poured in March, completing the building's concrete structure.
To mark the milestone, the project team held a topping out ceremony. This construction tradition sees an evergreen tree placed on the highest structural point of the building to signify the completion of the structural phase.
A distinctive structure takes shape
The feature precast concrete columns along Vernon Circle and Constitution Avenue are now complete, with forward strutting progressively removed.
Installation of Vernon's structural timber elements has also begun along both street frontages. These include glue-laminated timber (GLT) beams and columns, and cross-laminated timber (CLT) slabs.
Work moves inside
Loading platforms now extend to Level 5, supporting internal works as propping and bracing are removed across most floors. Internal fit-out works began on Level 1 in February, and high-level services rough-ins have commenced to support integrated fit-outs.
What's next?
Structural steel installation for the Level 8 plant room will begin in April, followed by installation of the roof. Façade works will also start, with panel deliveries expected soon as scaffold screens are removed and structural timber installation continues.
